Training Assistance Program (TAP)

General Rules and Guidelines for Participating Athletes, Coaches, and Parents

To assist in the training needs of our athletes, the Saskatchewan Baton Twirling Association (SBTA) is proud to sponsor the Training Assistance Program. TAP gyms are available to all athletes registered with the SBTA. To ensure a safe environment, however, we ask that you follow these rules and guidelines:

Sign In Book:
There will be a binder at the gym to record how many people are taking advantage of the open gym time. Please be certain to sign in every time you use the gym.

Use of Music:
" If you are practicing with music, please ensure that it is not loud and interfering with what others are trying to accomplish. As a courtesy, it is always nice to ask those who are also practicing in the gym if they mind if you play your music.

Supervision:
This is an unsupervised practice. Please arrange your own supervision from either a coach or parent. Under no circumstances should athletes under the age of 12 be left alone to practice – supervision by a coach or parent is mandatory for this age group.

Similarly, if parents who are supervising also bring non-twirling siblings along, please ensure that they are not left alone to run around the gymnasium. This not only is a distraction to the practicing athletes, but could easily result in an accident.

Gym Rules:
We do not want to lose our rental privileges at these great facilities. As such, please respect the gymnasium’s posted rules pertaining to food, drink, outside footwear, etc.. Also, please ensure that your baton is in good shape and that the rubber ends have not popped through. The exposed  end a baton will damage the gymnasium floor.

Questions:
If you have any questions or concerns about the TAP gyms or the program in general, please contact the SBTA Technical Representative, Elan Paluck, at (306) 586-6710 or elan.paluck@rqhealth.ca.
